Not much to formally report today, so I thought I'd just share a few musings:
(SPOILERS) This was the only TV I watched last night (well, okay, the wife and I also caught up on Project Runway: Under the Gunn but I doubt you wanna hear about that). This show has been a big letdown this year. Almost seems like it should've been a one-and-done and just finished last year. Kevin Bacon is just going through the motions, and James Purefoy is trying but he's got crap material to work with. The one bright spot has been Shawn Ashmore, who was little more than an annoying sidekick last year. His acting has been top-notch this season; I really hope it leads to some higher-profile gigs for him. Also, Valerie Curry's Emma met her unexpected demise last night, which made my boner sad.
I haven't watched it yet. I've seen every episode but it's never a priority for me. Honestly, if they renew it for another season, I don't even know if I'll bother. Nonetheless, I'll share my thoughts later this week when I get to it.
Just announced today, this will be the next (and supposedly last) game in the Arkham series. I've only played the first one and, while I LOVED it, I just don't have time for these loooooong games anymore. I am finally playing Skyrim right now, but that's because I'm an idiot and finally caved to the pressure. I remember finishing Arkham Asylum and feeling pretty satisfied, like I'd completed a worthwhile quest without spending half my life on it. Then I started reading comments from the developers regarding the then-upcoming Arkham City: "This one's gonna be 10 times as big! It'll take 5 times as long to finish!" Well, fuck you very much.
For the record, I actually did finally pick up a used copy of Arkham City at GameStop about a year ago, and only got around to popping it in the Xbox last month. I spent about 30 minutes getting the controls and brightness adjusted, tweaking the 3D to my liking, and then sitting through the opening cinematic. As soon as the actual game started, I got a disc read error. I went through the whole routine again just to confirm and, yeah, my disc was fucked. Not only did I not have a receipt but it was well past the allotted return policy time limit. You can imagine my joy.
I'm planning to write an entire blog entry on the stuff I'm currently reading but, suffice it to say, it's all graphic novels, and they're all checked out from the library. And I continually put off reading them until they're due. And 9 times out of 10, someone has them on hold, so renewing them isn't an option. Today I have Wonder Woman: Vol. 1 and Locke & Key: Vol. 1 both due and haven't touched a single page. Shame on me.
I guess that's it for now. Did I miss something? If you want to hear my thoughts on something, let me know. I'm always happy to bitch about something new.
